Riding Lessons for Young and Senior
Philosophy: I am looking for “the Kid with the Horsebug”, age irrelevant, who dreams of being so comfortable and familiar with horses, that riding is just the icing on the cake. I have always had a soft spot for the timid rider, the slow learner, the One who dances to his/ her own tuneβ¦ Through the years there have been a good amount that grew into their bodies and self confidence along with those kids who learn everything in stride. Those Individuals I see as my greatest accomplishments: They not only learned how to ride, but more importantly, they learned how to create willing cooperation with a partner that outweighs them 10x! This takes a good amount self-control, clear thinking and empathy – all values that are vital to functioning as an independent member of a healthy Society.
To me THESE LIFE LESSONS I participate in as intermediate between Horse and Student, have always been as important as developing the Physical Abilities of a Rider, for only the combination of both make a good Horseman/Woman.
STUDENT LEARNING
By Necessity I have developed a Teaching Method that addresses the Needs of the Individual Student first, (no matter how long it takes). I am not bound to a Program or Showing Schedule with Time Limits, rather I am looking to develop Horse Men and Women with a well rounded Understanding of everything ” Horse” and Riding Abilities that will serve them well in any Discipline they might endeavor later. Therefore I aim to expose my Students to a Variety of Tasks that all centers around developing a balanced Seat and being able to ” read the Horse” from Moment to Moment, no Matter what type of Equipment they are using that Day. They learn about English, Western, Dressage, Jumping, Barrel Racing, Cross Country, Gaming, Bareback Riding and so on. That way, when they leave Cypress Run they have an easy time joining a discipline they want to pursue.
Suggested donations: $55 for ~90 Min.
Students are expected to brush and tack up their Horse (under Supervision) Lesson typically ends with a short Trail Ride.
